Like all blogs I have ever set-up or maintained, this blog has been woefully neglected by me. I see it has been almost a month since I last posted. Unacceptable. Ironically, it was about a month ago that I decided I should blog far more often and on far more interesting subjects in order to be able to use it as a marketing tool for my writing.
I have finished writing the first draft of Too Close For Comfort. When I finished writing it, I was very pleased at having cleared the first hurdle whilst also feeling like my child had died. I’ve never had a child, so I can’t really say that, but I just did. It’s a crime fiction novel set in a fictional town, based around two main characters: DS Wendy Knight and DCI Jack Culverhouse. As a spate of serial killings take place in Mildenheath, every clue which Knight and Culverhouse uncover leads them to a dead end. As Wendy becomes involved with a new love interest, Robert Ludford, she starts to realise that he has more than a healthy interest in the progress of the investigation…
I have spent almost three years writing the novel and had planned to publish it in the New Year. That may or may not happen as I’m still not entirely sure I’m anywhere near happy with it and probably won’t be much happier after a couple of edits. Unfortunately, I’m a perfectionist when it comes to my fiction writing.
However, I have been working on a number of short stories and have been very pleased with what I’ve come up with so you’ll probably see a short story anthology released well before Too Close For Comfort. They’re of a very different style, indeed: mostly odd fantasy/horror tales but I must say they’ve been exceptionally enjoyable to write.
I hope to be back here regularly, blogging on writing issues. Bear with me!
